When we introduce a new pattern for production, we try to make sure that it works across the board. Our increasingly-popular Hanging Gardens pattern works equally well on a standard 36″ wide hood as it does on this 39″ tall, 72″ wide masterpiece. This hood, built to hang over a Lacanche Sully 1600, house two separate ventilation units, each one a customized Vent-a-Hood liner. The paint finish is designed to match a heavily patinaed zinc countertop which we were also called on to build.

The inspiration for this pattern, as with much of our design, comes from antiquity. This image, from a 1924 sheet metal catalog, shows the height of decoration reached during the Art Nouveau movement. A 60″ projection on cove molding today seems unbelievably excessive, but when the decorative arts were flourishing, it was common to see such extravagances in public buildings, and we pay tribute to the Victorian-era designers who planned such feats by resurrecting some of their motifs in our work.
